Perfluorinated compounds (also known as PFA or PFC) are considered one of the main categories of endocrine disrupting chemicals (or EDCs). They can be found in Teflon (non-stick) cookware and some cosmetics and are used for their ability to repel liquids. But these chemical do no break down in the environment and are also known to wreak havoc on hormonal balance, increase liver toxicity and even lead to thyroid disease.
